Yet another religious misogynistic hangover. A California court has over-turned a rape conviction because of an arcane law still on the books from the 1870's.
The law was designed within the paradigm that unmarried women were no man's property, and that to rape an unmarried woman was no crime because no man's property was being violated.
If you are Californian, you should demand that this law be repealed, ASAP.
